  1. Don’t open the door for adult trick-or-treaters unless they have children with them. You may feel bad, but it’s better safe than sorry.
  2. Watch out for clowns. It seems silly, but just be cautious considering all the clown trouble in recent news.
  3. Don’t eat unwrapped candy. Even if the wrapper is just off a little bit, don’t take the risk. The candy could be poisoned or tainted.
  4. Stay in a group. Don’t trick-or-treat alone at night. Bring flashlights, and watch where you step.
  5. Lock your doors and turn off your lights before going to bed.
  6. If you’re driving at night, be very aware and watch for children running in the streets.
  7. Watch for drivers while crossing the street! Stay on the sidewalks.
  8. Avoid houses with the lights out. That means they do not want to be disturbed, or nobody is home.
  9. Do not drink and trick-or-treat. It will cloud your judgement, and if you’re underaged you will very likely be arrested.
  10. Have fun, but remember: the police are very active on Halloween, so try not to be too rowdy.
