The World is filled with rare and exclusive foods some tasty, some disgusting, but all are expensive. Here is a list of my top 5 Most Exotic Foods in the World.

1. Kobe Beef

Kobe Beef comes from the best and most pampered cows in the world, like seriously these cows are fed high quality grass and beer, then they get daily massages to tenderize their meat. 1 kilo of this beef can cost $770 or more.

2. Densuke Watermelon

Unlike your typical American Watermelon, the Densuke Watermelon has a black rind and is crispier on the inside. They also are rounder and far more rare than the typical watermelon you see everyday. However these slight changes can come at really high prices as one watermelon can cost up to $6,100 dollars!

3. White Truffle

Neither plants or animals, the truffle is found out found underground and on the roots of a couple rare trees in the forest.  Pigs will dig them out in the woods in search of this fungi’s unique aroma that resembles their very own sex hormones. However the legendary white truffle in particular is the most expensive of all due to it’s intense flavor and smell. Just one pound can cost between $1,360 and $4,200.

4. Bird’s Nest Soup

Bird’s Nest Soup is possibly the weirdest and most expensive soup in the world and has been served in China as a delicacy for over 400 years. It is made up of the saliva nests built by birds called cave swifts and is then dissolved in water to create a gelatinous soup. It’s believed that the spit has many nutritional and medicinal uses as one pound of this spit can cost over $4,535.

5. Casu Marzu

If you thought that drinking bird’s spit was disgusting get ready for this, Casu Marzu is cheese literally crawling with maggots, it’s direct translation is “Rotten cheese” so yeah, it’s pretty gross. It’s been given the nickname “World’s Deadliest Cheese” because eating live maggots crawling in rotten gooey cheese is not good for you. This strange cheese can cost anywhere between $100-$200 per pound and is often eaten at weddings as a specialty.
